We are delighted of your interest; a warm welcome.
Bertie’s Nursery takes its name from a beautiful young Labrador puppy that happened to be eating the legs of a chair at the time the idea of the nursey was conceived. He is now a handsome, happy, gentle dog, pleased to see everyone. He is also a regular visitor.
Bertie’s Nursery has similarly grown and evolved into a wonderfully happy community of little people. From concept it opened almost as a building site in January 2018. A year on it is now a glorious nursery set in idyllic parkland. It boasts exceptional facilities that include a Forest School, a large all weather outdoor play area much likened to Telly Tubby Land and large, light, airy rooms for each age group. As stated it has also quickly become a warm, happy community, centred round the development of each individual little child.
We aim to provide a warm, safe, family environment in which each child is happy. Within this setting we nurture confidence, curiosity and courtesy. We are certainly not a hothouse, rather we aspire to equip each of our children with the skills necessary to successfully approach and enjoy the more formal learning of school, and life, as they move on.
We provide a rich, diverse programme based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We also enjoy close links with The Downs Preparatory School; just half a mile down the drive we often visit Pets Corner, the amazing Tree House and occasionally gently partake in some Music and PE lessons with the Reception classes. These are fun but the mini bus drive is the main interest of the young children! We firmly believe in fresh air, wellies and muddy knees. Good manners, kindness and respect are essentially, constantly engendered.
We appreciate what an enormous decision it is to send your child to nursery and we never underestimate the trust you place in us to look after your children. We much enjoy getting to know you all and we consdier it to be a privilege to be part of your children’s start in life.
Inevitably the website can only provide a small taste of what we have to offer at Bertie’s. We nevertheless hope it proves sufficient to encourage you to come and visit us; you will be warmly welcomed by a community of happy people.
